To accomplish this mission, The George Washington Center for Freedom and Understanding
has as its core work Project Digital Democracy. This project will connect young people throughout
the world in online experiences that will help them grow in their love of freedom, their understanding of the principles that preserve it,
their capacity to lead, and their strength of character.
Millions of young people are prepared and waiting for the meaningful, enriching online connection to be provided by Project Digital Democracy.
Those young people are already participating in the programs of the Center for Civic Education, a forty-year-old nonprofit organization
teaching constitutional democracy and civic responsibility in schools around the world—but those youth are not connected in the powerfully
effective way that Project Digital Democracy can provide.
Through an alliance between The George Washington Center for Freedom and Understanding and the
Center for Civic Education,
Project Digital Democracy will within the next six months be able to connect this community of young people and
their teachers—a community that is passionate about democracy and that has an inherent need to be connected in its efforts to understand and
advance the principles of freedom and civic responsibility throughout the world.
